Purpose of the Committee

The VCU Student Technology Advisory Committee (STAC) is intended to form cooperation between VCU Technology Services and students' academic and social life at VCU. The Committee advises VCU Technology Services in service design and implementation, programming, and technology promotion at VCU. Specifically, the Committee is designed to

Advise and assist in designing and implementing services affecting all students.

Offer a student perspective on relevant Technology Services issues.

Participate in projects or activities that promote VCU Technology Services among students.

Committee Membership

STAC will comprise up to twenty undergraduates and graduates per academic year. All enrolled VCU students from all majors and ranks are encouraged to apply. VCU Technology Services seeks a diverse group of outgoing students who will represent the various needs and perspectives of the VCU population.

Terms of Service and Compensation

The terms of service for this position are one academic year, from September to April. Committee members must be able to attend meetings on selected Fridays from 1-2 p.m. Upon completing their term and these requirements, they will receive a $100 service award. Up to two absences from STAC meetings are permitted during the academic year. Members can make up for an absence by participating in Technology Services events held throughout the term of service. Committee members can request to renew their membership each following year while enrolled as full-time students.

Topic Proposals

STAC meetings provide the ideal opportunity for members to discuss relevant topics to improve the technology experience for the VCU community. If you have a conversational idea for STAC, let us know by sharing your idea and joining the conversation.
